Rocket Boys
I've been reading this book off and on called Rocket Boys. It's a true story from the late 50's. Some high school kids, in an attempt to escape the life of a coal miner, start building rockets to win a science fair, and most likely get college scholarships from it. Very inspiring, and i thought of this as i was reading it.

You should check out "October Sky" which produced in 1999. Jake Gyllenhaal is the main character playing Homer Hickam who went to work for NASA.
